North Shore House: Living On A Seaside Slope

coastal-home-ns-house
The North Shore House is a modern family home in Auckland, New Zealand. This coastal villa is large, featuring a total floor area of 400 sq. meters with a fantastic location sloping down to a smallish sea cliff and into the sea.
The house is situated between a reserve on one side and an unoccupied site on the other, at the end of a quiet no-exit street. The structure features block work and timber, intersecting and overlapping throughout the house, and a gravel roof plane with timber-clad roof lights.

Moving through the house is like taking a journey; I love the way it slopes downward in harmony with the site itself, providing places to stop along the way to enjoy the view, while offering various pathways both inside and out to choose from.
