Tree house design Hunters Hill

tree-house-design-hunters
As you enter this amazing tree house which is the home and architectural office of Steven Isaacs and Lisa Saville, you can hear the sound of leaves. With soaring eucalypti all around the plot in Australia’s Hunters Hill, what else can you possibly need?
With a challenge of not removing a single tree, the house contractors, Trinium Group have managed to achieve at the entry level, an open-plan kitchen and living areas which flow onto a 12-metre-high deck, perched above never-ending leafy vistas. This tree house design includes a retention of a 30-metre-high eucalypti that rises through the rear, cantilevered deck.
“We wanted the project to be as environmentally sensitive as possible. There would be no excavation and we didn’t want to disturb nature,” Isaacs says.

papua-tree-housesDiscovered by the outside world just 30 years ago, the fascinating Korowai and Kombai tribes used to be cannibalistic tribes, isolated in their original ancestral territories deep in the rainforest.
Each clan has one to five treehouses, which go from 6 to 25 and sometimes up to 50 meters high protecting them from heat, insects, evil forest spirits and enemies. These tree houses are truly gravity defying homes perched on top of the tree; try to imagine the view from their balcony.

Cedar Creek Treehouse

cedar-creek-treehouse
The Cedar Creek Tree house at Mount Rainier is not for the faint of heart. However, when i came across this Earth-friendly cabin retreat i said to myself: One day, i too will sleep 50 feet up in a 200-year old giant Western Red Cedar tree…
cedar-creek-treehouseMake your way across an 80-foot-long suspension footbridge through a rain forest of cedars and evergreens only to ascend a five-story stairwell.
What a fine starting point to reach this mountain retreat which includes 12-volt electric lights, water, a gas stove, an icebox and sink in the kitchen, and a toilet and wash basin in the bathroom. And if that’s not enough, completing this tree house resort is a treehouse observatory with spectacular mountain views 100 feet high in a nearby fir tree.

To reach the treehouse observatory you first need to ascend the “Stairway to Heaven”, an 80-foot spiral staircase around a Douglas fir tree, only to walk across the “Rainbow Bridge” walkway that connects to the treehouse observatory 43 feet away.

Cliff Treehouse: A New York Getaway

treehouse-design-cliff
You know how much I love treehouses, the feeling of being up there with birds, leaves and sky… So, when I saw this tree house I must admit it took my breath away. First of all, the location is superb – two hours north of NYC, close to the Hudson River in the beautiful state of New York. Second of all, just look at it – it’s exquisite! Hanging by a ‘thread’ over a cliff peering out into the amazing hilly landscape and beyond. As Alicia Keys sings ’some people have it all’…
This gorgeous, contemporary tree house was built for a family with children, visually resembling the owner’s main house. It serves as a room for rest and relaxation as well as a guestroom, situated in a height between 1-5 meters, depending on the wall of rocks underneath.
treehouse-design-cliff1
Arriving to the top of the cliff, the visitor is invited by a catwalk leading to a spacious terrace large enough for a table and a few chairs; a second catwalk leads to a beautiful cabin with silver-colored larch boarding. Personally, I love heights so this would not be a problem for me should I ever get the chance to visit this beautiful place, however for those who might find it too scary walking on that narrow catwalk, all I can say is hang in there…
treehouse-design-cliff4
treehouse-design-cliff5
Heavy-duty straps and steel ropes connect the terrace to the oak tree, whereas the tree house is propped up by two slanting supports on the front and two small stilts near the rock.
treehouse-design-cliff6
Inside, the cabin is furnished with a very spacious lying area, a bench, and storage drawers underneath. Glazing is fitted on all sides as well as a small rectangular dormer window to watch the sky while lying down. At night time the illuminated treehouse is visible from a great distance.
